Testimonials

“Taylor MacDonald and his crew from Solid Masonry impressed us with professionalism, courtesy, and good nature, from start to finish.  Our project in the Spring of 2013 was one requiring a contractor with the willingness and patience to oversee a relatively complicated project involving six (6) neighbours.  Taylor prepared individualized quotes and invoicing.  He and his crew demonstrated that they value safety first, for people and property.  The invoice came in on budget.  We are very pleased with the results and may recommend this well managed company to others seeking expert restorations and a minimum of disruption throughout a project, no matter how complicated.  These guys take the time to explain the work being undertaken to laymen.  They are diligent workers, and skilled and knowledgeable tradesmen.  Our home owners’ anxieties dissipated, feeling that we were in capable hands.  One would be smart to ask Solid Masonry for a quote.

“Taylor did our fireplace on likely the coldest day of the year … I mention this only because he did all the cuts outside … that’s true dedication. Not only was the job done to exacting standards (my wife will tell you I am super critical), Taylor proactively resolved issues he ran into without burdening us, the clients. His attention to detail and the cleanliness of the work site are what truly sets him apart from most other masons.  If you want a job done right they say do it yourself … well if it’s a masonry job get Solid Masonry to do it for you … you won’t be disappointed.”

“We recently had Solid Masonry do repairs on brickwork surrounding our house.  I was very pleased with the quality of work.  Taylor MacDonald and his team were polite, professional, timely and a pleasure to deal with.

Taylor even assisted us in finding other solutions regarding our renovation.

I strongly recommend Solid Masonry for a job well done.”

“Taylor and his crew repointed all four walls of our heritage home and we were extremely happy with the results.  All the stone masons working on the project were very professional, friendly, hard workers, but above all very skilled.  They often took the time to explain what they were doing and why it was necessary.  My home was always treated with respect and I always felt that I was in good hands.

The entire crew was very accommodating with any requests in particular related to our new born baby’s sleeping schedule — making sure that any noisy work would not be done while the baby was asleep.  When we discovered that some large stones needed to be replaced, Taylor drove to Montreal in order to find a perfectly matching stone.

I was extremely happy with how the crew cleaned up after themselves daily. I would definitely use and recommend them again.”

“Hi Taylor, I am really please with your work and with your personal and professional kindness. Your team is very well organized and they always tidied up after the end of each the day of work. I am sure that your business will flourish. Since day one you were very honest with me and told me what needed to be done, and even if I would not choose you for the job, you walked the extra mile to recommend to me the appropriate materials people should use so as to make a good job. You were also very generous with the parish in your pricing and also going out of your way to do some favors for the church. I really appreciate your help and the work of your Team. Your guys without hesitation helped me not just by doing the job properly, with a just price, but also with your help in carrying and putting the cross in the church. Thank you!”

“Taylor and his crew did a wonderful job right from the point of providing a quote to completing the job. The work was very well explained to us all along the way. I would recommend Taylor’s company without hesitation.

Thank you again Taylor. It was a pleasure working with your company.”

“Lama Holding is the owner of 5 Blackburn, a 9000 sqft heritage building at the heart of Sandy hill in Ottawa and it is an integral part of the Canadian Heritage as it contains unique Queen Anne revival features and was the former residence of ace aviator Billy Bishop. The restoration of this 105 years old building could not have taken the splendour displayed without the implication of Solid Masonry lead by Taylor Macdonald. Providing us with timely, adept and professional advices regarding restorations of our full height basement foundation, Taylor and his team carried out the full restoration of all the inner stone walls. Our project included some very challenging aspects and Solid Masonry handled it quite well. Solid Masonry craftsmanship’s is enjoyed on a daily basis in our offices and was displayed to the public during the Ottawa Doors Open 2012 week-end. Restoration of heritage building is an on-going dynamic, Solid Masonry was recently again selected to complete the restoration of an outside wall portion as I have confidence that the job will be completed professionally.”

“I asked Solid Masonry to bid on reconstructing the two front brick pillars on my veranda. Their bid for the masonry part of the project was the lower bid.

I found Taylor and his two masons who worked on there project, amicable and conscientious.

In every project involving an older building there are always surprises, which there was in this project. After talking over the changes that were need in this project. Taylor resubmitted his bid. The altered price was very reasonable. Given the go ahead, his crew rebuilt the pillars and the deck.

I so pleased with the work that I have asked Taylor to return in the spring and build a third pillar next to the front stairs, to match the two old pillars he replaced. The house looks 100% better then it did.”

“Taylor and his masons undertook the stone masonry for renovations to our house on the Rideau River. They did an excellent job, paying a lot of attention to detail, which makes all the difference for a project in which you have a personal stake. They took great pride in their work and it shows. Thanks.”
